Something big is brewing at the SpaceX South Texas launch facility near Boca Chica State Park.
SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk posted a video and picture on Twitter on Christmas Eve.
The first shows the “Stainless Steel Starship."
Another post from Musk on December 23 shows a satellite moving on the property.
According to SpaceNews.com, the photo shows two parts of a new redesigned test vehicle for the company’s next-generation reusable launch system, which could be ready for flights in early 2019.
The “Starship” is designed to be around 30 feet wide and 180 feet tall and will sit on top of around 220-foot-tall rocket booster called “Super Heavy,” according to BusinessInsider.com.
Scott Manley discusses what the “Stainless Steel Starship” could be.
BusinessInsider.com is also reporting that Musk said the vehicle could be ready to launch as soon as March 2019.
However, it is unclear where the vehicle will launch from. At this point, work continues on construction of the facility near Boca Chica State Park.
