We are getting reports of a bright light in the sky that was seen by many Nevada residents on Wednesday night.
We are working to gather more information.
There was a rocket launch scheduled for tonight at Vandenberg, but the National Weather Service tweeted that it was scrubbed.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in the Bay Area said on their Twitter that they believe it might have been a meteor. NWS in Reno also tweeted it was likely a meteor or space debris entering the atmosphere.
We will report more details as soon as we receive them.

The Delta IV rocket launch was scrubbed this evening at Vandenberg AFB. Did anyone else see this beautiful sunset and light in the western sky? This is a view from the Diamond Peak @NVSeismoLab AlertTahoe camera. pic.twitter.com/2ekBnRfFRq

Still not 100% certain, but evidence is growing the object seen was a meteor. A meteor can create a very high level cloud called a noctilucent cloud. @NASA has a great webpage explaining the cloud formation. https://t.co/eDquECamLl #cawx

Based upon several videos and reports, it appears as though the bright light in the sky seen at approximately 5:34 PM PST was likely a meteor or space debris entering the upper atmosphere.
